Deciduous Beech (Nothofagus gunnii)
Kah Kit has recently returned from a week in Tasmania, timed to coincide with the fagus viewing season. Deciduous beech, or fagus as it's best known, is the only deciduous tree native to Australia. Finding an appropriate tree in the right light proved to be more difficult than expect but as usual, with persistence, nature obliged. The fagus at Mt Field & Cradle Mountain national parks were in season. Kah Kit also managed to photograph Horseshoe Falls and Cradle Mountain by moonlight. There was also an unexpected detour into the beautiful Southwest National Park. See the results in the "New Photos" gallery.
