We were very lucky to get this sunrise. That morning, the group was car pooling in 3 vehicles, Darwin Wiggett and some of the others in the lead. Our original destination was Upper Waterfowl lake but the further along we travelled the more the weather seemed to be closing in. Earlier along the highway, Royce Howland, Winnie Ho and I had been watching the faint glow of underlit clouds that looked promising. Not long after, Darwin pulled over at a place where we could shoot some mountains over a lake and take advantage of the promising conditions. When the group returned to the lodge and checked the satellite images, we discovered that the whole area was covered by thick clouds, save for a small hole where we had been shooting.
