Photo of the Week

In early April severe storms wreaked havoc in the state of Victoria. This coincided with our visit to Mornington national park. This coastal park is only 90km from Melbourne and features basaltic cliffs, limestone formations and bushland. The conditions were challenging and we had to cope with storm force winds, rain, hail, swirling sand and sea spray. Despite this there was excellent light during all our shoots.

This photo was taken from limestone sea cliffs at sunset. This is the only photo in the current portfolio that is an example of a manipulated photo. The squarish crop results from stitching two horizontal frames together. A wide-angle composition was made. Then the lens was tilted up to capture the sky. The two images were stitched to give a wide view but also include the feeling of an expansive sky. Standard digital retouching was finally applied to the 'panorama'. This was a technique that I picked up from our
friend, noted Canadian photographer and nice guy, Darwin Wiggett.
